Resetting Camera IP Address | Troubleshooting PTZ Camera Issues

TOPICS: Device Control, Troubleshooting

One of the most common causes for a TEKVOX PTZ camera becoming unresponsive is it being reset to its factory default settings. If this happens, the camera’s network settings must be changed so it can receive commands from the control system. Note that this guide assumes the camera is connected to a TEKVOX local A/V LAN; if it is not, then the same process can be followed with a laptop and direct Ethernet connection.

Set PC IP Address

Because the camera’s default network address is set to static at 192.168.5.163, the PC must be set to the 192.168.5 IP range in order to access it. To change this:

  1. Open Control Panel and select “Network and Internet“, then “Network and Sharing Center“, and finally “Change adapter settings
  2. Right-click on the “Ethernet 2” connection and select “Properties
  3. Double-click on “Internet Protocol Version 4 (TCP/IPv4)” to open its properties
  4. Select “Use the following IP address” and enter the addresses below:
    • IP Address: 192.168.5.10
    • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Default Gateway: 192.168.5.1
  5. Click “Okay” to apply settings

Set Camera Network Settings in Web GUI

  1. In a web browser on the PC, enter the IP address “192.168.5.163” and enter “admin” for both the username and password. If prompted, click on the popup message to install the playback plug-in.
  2. Once logged in to the GUI, click “Configuration“, then “Network Configuration“, and finally “Ethernet
  3. Check the box next to “DHCP” and then click “Save
  4. In order to apply settings, click “System Configuration“, “Reboot“, and then “Yes

Restore PC IP Address

  1. Follow steps #1-3 from “Set PC IP Address”
  2. Select “Use the following IP address” and enter the addresses below:
    • IP Address: 192.168.0.10
    • Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
    • Default Gateway: 192.168.0.1
  3. Click “Okay” to apply settings

The camera should now appear on a network scan from the PC; after running the scan, enter the camera’s IP address into the TCX10 Touchscreen so the system knows where to send commands.

If the camera still cannot be located, the TEK-PC’s DHCP server may need to be restarted. To do so:

  1. Navigate to “C:/Tekvox/Software/dhcpsrv_V#” and click the “dhcpsrv.exe” executable file
  2. Click “Admin” to make changes
  3. Under “Service”, click “Stop” wait and confirm that the Status changes, then click “Start” and confirm that the Status is now “Running”
