TEKVOX and SKG Forge Partnership to Offer One-Stop Technology-Workspace Solutions

It was serendipity when Jim Reinhart, CEO of TEKVOX, met Diana Keller, Co-founder and President of SKG Inc. while they were walking their dogs about four years ago. During the ensuing conversation they discovered that TEKVOX’s unique A/V control solutions and SKG’s innovative workspace designs were complementary businesses and natural partners. Thoughtfully integrating A/V technology with well-designed office furniture makes for better overall office design and a more efficient and engagingorkplace and avoids destroying expensive tables and consoles to adapt them to A/V use.

Reinhart and Keller have forged a partnership that has expanded business for both of their firms. They have teamed on a project for the Leander Independent School District and on the entrepreneurialcubator classroom facilities at Vista Ridge High School in Cedar Park; they completed a job for X Technologies in San Antonio and partnered on A/V collaboration tables and videowalls across a wide range of industries.

“Tech means equipment, power and cabling. Office or instructional furniture designed with no thought about how it will be used can be pretty but also pretty expensive to effectively use,” says Reinhart. “How do you put tech in a typical marble-topped executive conference table? We’ve encountered this time and time again with our line of drop-in solutions. It costs the customer a lot of time and money to do this at installation time when the actual-case hasn’t been comprehended.”

From the outset, he and Keller were on the same page in wanting to achieve the best results for clients investing in cutting-edge technology. Keller refers to creating “holistic work force solutions that fuse technology, furniture and the workplace environment, something most companies don’t even consider,” Reinhart points out. “It’s about functionality, aesthetics and economics; you have to own the whole experience. Keller recalls that when SKG opened in Austin 25 years ago the company was already more forward thinking than the competition and well prepared for the area’s rise as an innovation hub. “There’s been lots of growth in high tech; we see the area just exploding,” she says.

Partnering with TEKVOX positioned SKG to take advantage of the high-tech boom: Keller estimates that technology and furniture packages now comprise about 30% of SKG’s total work.

“We understand each other’s products and philosophies,” Keller says of TEKVOX and SKG. “We want our clients to press the easy button: It’s such a pain for clients to have to deal with multiple vendors. With TEKVOX we can collaborate easily without going through layers of infrastructure.

“The tech is there today to push us toward a hands-free environment. A conference room should know what tech you have and be able to adapt to the install. Our workplace should respond to us; we have to become digitally fit and literate in technology in order to maximize how to use it.”

TEKVOX Introduces World’s Lowest Cost Fully Managed Classroom Solution

TEKVOX, Inc. announced the release of its 71202 and 71204 Drop-In AV® Classroom solutions featuring a revolutionary hardware/software fusion that migrates its award-winning TekMonitor control system to the classroom PC.

Rather than employing a typical hardware control and management system, the 712xx utilizes the classroom PC as the host for the secure PC-TekMonitor application and further uses USB I/O to control external devices such as projectors and switchers.

“As we continue to lower the barriers to adoption of managed AV systems in the K-12 markets, we’ve embraced hardware minimization by using spare cycles in the powerful PCs already resident in most classrooms” said Jim Reinhart, CEO of TEKVOX. “The new 71202 and 71204 require very little hardware to provision a fully managed and remotely supportable classroom system. They are both economical and eco-friendly.”

The 72104 “Eco+” supports four HDMI inputs, an HDBaseT HDMI extender set and the innovative Elgato Stream Deck user interface. The PC-TekMonitor uses a trivial amount of the PC’s resources. Texas Southern University Upgrades Earl Carl Courtroom w/ TEKVOX Drop-In A/V Solutions

When it came time to renovate the Earl Carl Courtroom at Texas Southern University’s Thurgood Marshall School of Law, TSU selected a TEKVOX Drop-In A/V solution to provide students and teachers with advanced audio and video capabilities in an easy-to-use, powerful system.

“We have been working with TSU for quite some time replacing campus classroom systems with sophisticated distance learning solutions,” Jim Reinhart, CEO of TEKVOX said. “As the centerpiece of the law school, the faculty wanted to add distance learning capabilities to the Earl Carl Courtroom , too.”

Network cable designer and installer PCS Telecom, which had the courtroom’s renovation contract, partnered with TEKVOX to install the Drop-In A/V solution; replacing a complex legacy system that required significant staff input with a highly-automated, compact managed system that can be used with very little training.

TEKVOX Drop-In A/V solutions are highly automated, networked managed and factory-programmed. They are configured for easy integration and installation, reliability and simple maintenance. TEKVOX developed the 32-slot flexible matrix system specifically for the Earl Carl Courtroom with numerous I/Os to handle the needs of faculty and students who take up positions throughout the space during instructional sessions. Multi-stream Ultra High Definition video recording offers a futureproof method of lecture capture in the courtroom and simplifies retention and playback compared to multiple recorder systems. The TEKVOX Drop-In solution cut the size of the equipment rack in half reducing six linear feet of gear to just three linear feet.

Despite its advanced features, the new system is marked by ease of use that faculty and students appreciate. “A single touchscreen display on the courtroom podium unifies control in one easy-to-operate interface,” Reinhart explains. “There’s no need for anyone to undergo complex training.”

He notes that the A/V install by PCS Telecom was the first of its kind performed by the network cable designer. “PCS successfully expanded its portfolio with this project for one of the most sophisticated classrooms in education,” says Reinhart.

The TEKVOX Drop-In line has been simplified and now centers on four primary configurations: the 71011 Managed Digital Foundation entry-level Drop-In, the mainstream 71021 Drop-In for a variety of single display applications, the powerful TekFlex multi-display solution for classrooms, lecture halls and executive conference rooms and the 4K MultiView Drop In for active learning/collaboration environments with our without video conferencing support.

TEKVOX Drop-In A/V® solutions are complete, highly automated, networked managed and factory-programmed. They are configured for easy integration and installation, reliability and simple maintenance. Within the standard Drop-Ins, application-specific configuration options include combining or dividing rooms at a touch, optimizing conference table installation, adding podium/credenza inputs and control to conference rooms, and making conference rooms and board rooms ready for complex audio and VTC integration.
