10 Innovative Features to Look for in Video Conferencing Solutions

February 7, 2024 by Zach Rischitelli Leave a Comment

There’s no stopping the continuous advancements of technology. Video conferencing has become an essential tool for businesses that need to connect with colleagues, clients, and partners around the world. With the rise of remote work and a growing need for effective virtual collaboration, having reliable and innovative video conferencing solutions is crucial.

If you are in the market for leading video conferencing equipment and capabilities, we’ve rounded up 10 of the most innovative features to look for in solutions today that can enhance your virtual meetings and improve communication.

1. 180° 4K Panoramic Camera

One of the most innovative features to look for in video conferencing is a 180° 4K panoramic camera. This specialized type of camera offers a wide field of view for full-room coverage, allowing all meeting participants to be seen clearly and accurately. It achieves the 180° panoramic view thanks to three 4K cameras, and users can easily switch among six different video layouts. Plus, this camera setup includes an auto-tracking feature to follow speakers as they move. Whether you’re conducting a large group meeting, presenting data to a client, or facilitating a one-on-one video collaboration call, this panoramic camera can capture all the action in stunning high-definition quality.

2. Auto-Tracking Cameras

Another important feature to consider is auto-tracking cameras, especially in larger settings like lecture halls or auditoriums. These auto-tracking cameras are designed to automatically follow the speaker as they move around the room, ensuring that they stay in focus and centered on the screen. This can help to create a more dynamic and engaging virtual meeting experience, making participants feel like they are truly in the same room. That can be a game-changer for remote classes, webinars, or other big presentations.

3. High-Quality PTZ Cameras

When searching for the right video conferencing equipment, it’s also crucial to look for high-quality PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras. These cameras can provide similar auto-tracking features as previously mentioned cameras, but the key difference here is how PTZ cameras offer specialized zoom capabilities. These setups allow you to adjust the focus and framing of the camera remotely with an ultra-wide lens, which can be invaluable for all kinds of classrooms, virtual meetings, and more. Whether you need to focus on a specific presenter or show a detailed view of a product demonstration, PTZ cameras provide flexibility and control during your video calls.

4. Fiber USB Extender Sets

For organizations looking to extend the reach of their video conferencing system, fiber USB extender sets are a valuable addition. As the name implies, these USB sets enable you to connect USB devices, such as cameras or microphones, across long distances using fiber optic cables. The FOUB30 Fiber USB Extender Set, for instance, can provide data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps over the optical fiber cables, allowing users to share and access data in real-time from 328 feet (USB 3.1 Gen 1) or 3.7 miles (USB 2.0). This can help to eliminate signal loss and interference, ensuring a seamless and reliable video conferencing experience.

5. Touchscreen Controllers

To simplify the operation of your video conferencing solutions, consider investing in touchscreen controllers. These intuitive and user-friendly devices allow you to easily navigate through different settings and options, making it quick and easy to configure your video calls. With touchscreen controllers, you can streamline your virtual meetings and focus on collaborating effectively with your team.

6. Wireless Presentation Systems

On many video conference calls, attendees will share screens and deliver presentations, which makes wireless presentation systems another piece of invaluable video conferencing software and equipment. These systems allow participants to share content from their devices wirelessly, including laptops, tablets, or smartphones. By enabling seamless content sharing, wireless presentation systems can enhance collaboration and efficiency during virtual meetings.

7. Conferencing Adapters

In traditional conference rooms, individuals can only share content by either transferring the content to the host PC or connecting their laptop to the meeting in parallel. However, these activities can raise security concerns, and connecting in parallel from the meeting room can waste time, increase costs, and create frustrating audio feedback issues. With a video conferencing adapter, you can eliminate these problems entirely.

These adapters allow participants to share content directly from their laptops in web-based video conferences by adding a real-time HDMI feed into the conference PC. These adapters can be easily installed in different rooms, allowing you to quickly connect and configure your video conferencing system as needed. This flexibility can help to maximize the use of your video conferencing solutions.

8. Audio Amplifiers

In addition to video quality, audio is an essential aspect of any video conferencing system. Look for solutions that include audio amplifiers to enhance sound quality and clarity during your calls. Whether you’re hosting a virtual presentation or conducting a team discussion, clear and crisp audio can make a significant difference in the overall communication experience.

9. Networked A/V Controllers

To streamline the management and control of your video conferencing software, networked A/V controllers are a valuable feature to consider. These controllers allow you to centrally monitor and configure multiple A/V devices, such as cameras, microphones, and displays, through a single interface. By incorporating networked A/V controllers, you can simplify the operation of your video conferencing system and ensure a seamless user experience.

10. Drop-In A/V Systems Integration

Finally, when choosing video conferencing solutions, it’s essential to consider how well it integrates with your existing room layout and use cases. It can be challenging to build an A/V system from scratch and even harder to ensure new features are seamlessly integrated into your existing systems. At TEKVOX, we have an innovative solution for you: Drop-In A/V solutions.

1201-MV Universal Switcher Delivers True BYOD Video Conferencing

April 2, 2021 by Leave a Comment

TEKVOX raises the bar for distance engagement in both the educational and corporate markets with its groundbreaking 1201-MV Universal Switcher. The latest in TEKVOX’s prestigious line of switchers delivers true Bring-Your-Own-Device (BYOD) video conferencing by eliminating the need for a conventional in-room PC to drive the conference’s technical components.

“Laptops today are powerful, and a lot of video conference participants would really prefer to present from them,” notes TEKVOX CEO Jim Reinhart. “But they’d have to connect the laptop to the eyes and ears—cameras, mics, speakers—of the conference room and play out the content.

Before, that meant running a lot of cables to the conference table or using a separate PC. Now, they can use the 1201-MV and its built-in USB 3.0 hub to gain immediate access to far-end USB mics and cameras. The full infrastructure of a modern conference room has become plug-and-play.”

The 1201-MV is not just another switcher; it features a two-way USB hub at the far end, which allows any connected laptop to host meetings from the conference room using the installed technology. This groundbreaking capability does away with the need for a dedicated conferencing PC, and removes the security risks and overall annoyance associated with the old use model.

The introduction of the 1201-MV demonstrates TEKVOX’s continued commitment to increase product functionality and reduce the amount of hardware required for successful video conferencing.

The 1201-MV utilizes 6-Play HDBase-T to transport 4K video, digital audio, PoC, RS232, LAN, and USB over a single cable. It also includes a native USB-C input with up to 60W of power charging for a tablet or laptop. It features 12 flexible multiview modes for viewing up to four sources at once without additional hardware, something that was not possible with previous 1201 switchers. Finally, the 1201-MV features auto-switching—a useful function for collaboration & conferencing—and a breakaway HDMI output.

The 1201-MV is available now with an MSRP of $2,998. The switcher is shipped fully functional, pre-programmed, and rigorously tested.

The latest in TEKVOX’s prestigious line of 1201 presentation switchers, the 1201-MV offers even more advanced features to further enhance the company’s popular Drop-In A/V systems.

“The new 1201-MV has all the power and sophistication customers have come to expect from a 1201 switcher, plus an array of cutting-edge features designed for easier integration and more versatile, responsive operation,” says TEKVOX CEO Jim Reinhart.

These capabilities make the switcher more versatile, and reduce the amount of equipment and cabling required for a complete system.

For maximum convenience, the 1201-MV provides USB pass-through ports for a PC and peripheral devices. This allows a single mouse and keyboard to control both the PC and a connected USB-C source, depending on which is selected.

The new 1201-MV offers robust multiview and features 12 flexible configurations, allowing users to view up to four sources at once without additional hardware. “This was not possible with our previous 1201 switchers, and allows our clients to use their systems exactly as they want,” says Reinhart.

The 1201-MV’s HDBase-T output can travel up to 330 feet (100m) without any additional amplification, and supports PoH for remotely powering the receiver, resulting in convenient, single-cable installation. The 1201-MV also features sophisticated audio embedding & de-embedding, ensuring clear, reliable sound regardless of how it’s used. Finally, the switcher can be controlled via IR remote, RS-232, or TCP/IP commands for versatile, responsive operation & easy integration into any system.

TEKVOX Launches ShareView Wireless Presentation System For Conference Rooms And Collaboration Systems

September 2, 2020 by Leave a Comment

TEKVOX has introduced the ShareView Wireless Presentation System (79060-WPS), the perfect option for conference rooms and collaboration systems. The new ShareView Wireless allows multiple users to share content on a single display at once, and supports exceptional 4K resolution, all without requiring any wires or cabling.

Wireless presentation systems are ranked one of the Top 10 strategic technologies to improve BYOD collaboration in professional spaces. They allow users to mirror the content of their notebooks or mobile devices on a shared projector, flat panel or TV screen without plugging in any cables. Presenters can be switched at the click of a button to share ideas, concepts and media with no time wasted.

TEKVOX’S compact, agile ShareView Wireless offers the advanced functionality of a powerful multiview switcher combined with the unmatched convenience of a wireless presentation system. No more long cables running through rooms and under tables. Instead, two to four small HDMI transmitters, one per source, deliver plug-and-play functionality to make presenting from any laptop, tablet, or smartphone quick and easy. With the HDMI transmitters, no client software is needed and the point-to-point transmission is supported eliminating the need for access to the site’s WiFi network. The device also supports hardware-free access from iOS, Android and Windows devices.

“ShareView Wireless is no bare-bones system,” notes TEKVOX CEO Jim Reinhart. “It offers many premium features typically only found in expensive, high-end systems, including support of resolutions up to 4K @ 60Hz, the ability to display up to four sources at once with powerful and responsive multiview, and USB touchback/pass-through. Even better, it offers these premium features at an affordable, competitive price.”

ShareView Wireless has serial control, so it integrates seamlessly with any TEKVOX system. Users can control the system via built-in touch-to-select buttons or RS232 commands. Sources are selected quickly and easily with the push of a button, and the system’s ultra-compact design makes mounting anywhere simple and easy.

“In addition, ShareView Wireless is a completely independent system that does not require a network connection,” Reinhart points out. “ShareView Wireless breaks the dependency on an active network connection, offering full functionality without consuming valuable bandwidth.”

ShareView Wireless is shipping now and is available in two models. Model 79060-WPS includes the WMS-20 base unit and two transmitters and supports side-by-side multiview. Model 79060-WPS4 includes the WMS-40 base unit and four transmitters and supports quad multiview.
