10 Innovative Features to Look for in Video Conferencing Solutions

February 7, 2024 by Zach Rischitelli Leave a Comment

There’s no stopping the continuous advancements of technology. Video conferencing has become an essential tool for businesses that need to connect with colleagues, clients, and partners around the world. With the rise of remote work and a growing need for effective virtual collaboration, having reliable and innovative video conferencing solutions is crucial.

If you are in the market for leading video conferencing equipment and capabilities, we’ve rounded up 10 of the most innovative features to look for in solutions today that can enhance your virtual meetings and improve communication.

1. 180° 4K Panoramic Camera

One of the most innovative features to look for in video conferencing is a 180° 4K panoramic camera. This specialized type of camera offers a wide field of view for full-room coverage, allowing all meeting participants to be seen clearly and accurately. It achieves the 180° panoramic view thanks to three 4K cameras, and users can easily switch among six different video layouts. Plus, this camera setup includes an auto-tracking feature to follow speakers as they move. Whether you’re conducting a large group meeting, presenting data to a client, or facilitating a one-on-one video collaboration call, this panoramic camera can capture all the action in stunning high-definition quality.

2. Auto-Tracking Cameras

Another important feature to consider is auto-tracking cameras, especially in larger settings like lecture halls or auditoriums. These auto-tracking cameras are designed to automatically follow the speaker as they move around the room, ensuring that they stay in focus and centered on the screen. This can help to create a more dynamic and engaging virtual meeting experience, making participants feel like they are truly in the same room. That can be a game-changer for remote classes, webinars, or other big presentations.

3. High-Quality PTZ Cameras

When searching for the right video conferencing equipment, it’s also crucial to look for high-quality PTZ (Pan-Tilt-Zoom) cameras. These cameras can provide similar auto-tracking features as previously mentioned cameras, but the key difference here is how PTZ cameras offer specialized zoom capabilities. These setups allow you to adjust the focus and framing of the camera remotely with an ultra-wide lens, which can be invaluable for all kinds of classrooms, virtual meetings, and more. Whether you need to focus on a specific presenter or show a detailed view of a product demonstration, PTZ cameras provide flexibility and control during your video calls.

4. Fiber USB Extender Sets

For organizations looking to extend the reach of their video conferencing system, fiber USB extender sets are a valuable addition. As the name implies, these USB sets enable you to connect USB devices, such as cameras or microphones, across long distances using fiber optic cables. The FOUB30 Fiber USB Extender Set, for instance, can provide data transfer rates of up to 5Gbps over the optical fiber cables, allowing users to share and access data in real-time from 328 feet (USB 3.1 Gen 1) or 3.7 miles (USB 2.0). This can help to eliminate signal loss and interference, ensuring a seamless and reliable video conferencing experience.

5. Touchscreen Controllers

To simplify the operation of your video conferencing solutions, consider investing in touchscreen controllers. These intuitive and user-friendly devices allow you to easily navigate through different settings and options, making it quick and easy to configure your video calls. With touchscreen controllers, you can streamline your virtual meetings and focus on collaborating effectively with your team.

6. Wireless Presentation Systems

On many video conference calls, attendees will share screens and deliver presentations, which makes wireless presentation systems another piece of invaluable video conferencing software and equipment. These systems allow participants to share content from their devices wirelessly, including laptops, tablets, or smartphones. By enabling seamless content sharing, wireless presentation systems can enhance collaboration and efficiency during virtual meetings.

7. Conferencing Adapters

In traditional conference rooms, individuals can only share content by either transferring the content to the host PC or connecting their laptop to the meeting in parallel. However, these activities can raise security concerns, and connecting in parallel from the meeting room can waste time, increase costs, and create frustrating audio feedback issues. With a video conferencing adapter, you can eliminate these problems entirely.

These adapters allow participants to share content directly from their laptops in web-based video conferences by adding a real-time HDMI feed into the conference PC. These adapters can be easily installed in different rooms, allowing you to quickly connect and configure your video conferencing system as needed. This flexibility can help to maximize the use of your video conferencing solutions.

8. Audio Amplifiers

In addition to video quality, audio is an essential aspect of any video conferencing system. Look for solutions that include audio amplifiers to enhance sound quality and clarity during your calls. Whether you’re hosting a virtual presentation or conducting a team discussion, clear and crisp audio can make a significant difference in the overall communication experience.

9. Networked A/V Controllers

To streamline the management and control of your video conferencing software, networked A/V controllers are a valuable feature to consider. These controllers allow you to centrally monitor and configure multiple A/V devices, such as cameras, microphones, and displays, through a single interface. By incorporating networked A/V controllers, you can simplify the operation of your video conferencing system and ensure a seamless user experience.

10. Drop-In A/V Systems Integration

Finally, when choosing video conferencing solutions, it’s essential to consider how well it integrates with your existing room layout and use cases. It can be challenging to build an A/V system from scratch and even harder to ensure new features are seamlessly integrated into your existing systems. At TEKVOX, we have an innovative solution for you: Drop-In A/V solutions.

TEKVOX’s 79086S Camera Extender Set Simplifies Power Delivery To HDMI Cameras For Distance Engagement

March 18, 2021 by Leave a Comment

TEKVOX’s new Camera Extender Set improves the capabilities of HDMI cameras in classrooms, auditoriums, lecture halls, and conference centers facilitating distance engagement.

The Camera Extender Set allows integrators to mount an HDMI camera anywhere, without needing an AC outlet at the camera. Using a single CAT cable, the 79086S transports 4K video, bi-directional LAN and RS232, and 2.5A of 12V power to drive a camera at the far-end.

A single outlet at the receiver-end can power the transmitter, receiver, and camera, eliminating the need for a far-end outlet.

Typically, the availability of an AC outlet constrains the placement of HDMI cameras. The 79086S, however, drives the most advanced 4K HDMI camera without any additional power connections, entirely removing that constraint. Greater freedom allows integrators to install the camera wherever it’s needed most, resulting in a cleaner system and a superior user experience.

“The camera extender set significantly lowers the cost of installing a camera, and eliminates the obstacles associated with getting power to a camera,” says TEKVOX CEO Jim Reinhart. “It’s the ideal solution anywhere integrators want to deploy an HDMI camera over HDBase-T for video conferencing and distance learning.”

The 79086S Camera Extender Set streamlines the installation of HDMI cameras by offering greater freedom of placement, resulting in an enhanced user experience without sacrificing the advanced functionality of a 4K HDBaseT extender pair.

It is available now with an MSRP of $875.

TEXVOX Adds HTML5 Compatibility Across Its Camera Range

December 4, 2020 by Leave a Comment

TEKVOX has announced that its large complement of cameras is now compatible with the HTML5 standard. With Adobe ceasing to distribute and update Flash Player after December 31, 2020, HTML5 is recognized as a viable alternative for Flash content, and major browsers have integrated the open standard. TEKVOX has recognized this industry shift by providing HTML5 compatibility for camera control via web portals.

The wide array of cameras offered by TEKVOX forms part of the company’s Drop-In A/V solutions for videoconferencing and distance learning; cameras may also be purchased separately for video capture in classrooms and conference rooms.

Most available cameras support resolutions up to 1080p (full HD); however, TEKVOX has recently added 4K cameras for customers who demand the highest standard in video quality. In addition, TEKVOX offers two new auto-tracking cameras to capture speakers dynamically: the Wunderbar All-in-One Conferencing Bar—featuring a built-in microphone and speaker—and the stand-alone HD/1080p Auto-Tracking Camera, with exceptionally smooth 10x optical zoom.

TEKVOX’s PTZ cameras have different levels of zoom: from 5x optical zoom—for use in small spaces requiring a wide field of view—up to 20x zoom for larger lecture halls. They feature smooth and precise movement for pan, tilt, and zoom operations.

All the cameras offered by TEKVOX are robust & well-designed, and are available with HDMI or HDBase-T outputs. In addition to TCP/IP (web-based) control, they are controllable via RS232, RS422/485, or the included IR remotes.

“The new auto-tracking and 4K cameras bolster our full range of professional-quality PTZ cameras,” notes TEKVOX CEO Jim Reinhart. “By offering HTML5 compatibility, all TEKVOX cameras are now fully qualified for corporate and educational applications in a post-Flash world.”

TEKVOX Launches the Wunderbar All-in-One Conferencing Bar

November 5, 2020 by Leave a Comment

In order to deliver more simply designed, fully consolidated videoconferencing systems with fewer pieces of equipment, TEKVOX has introduced the Wunderbar All-in-One Conferencing Bar. The elegant, streamlined Wunderbar features a 4K auto-tracking camera, an array microphone, and an audio speaker, all in a single, convenient package that’s easy to install and use. Ideal for small conference rooms or huddle rooms, the Wunderbar can be combined with a PC & display to deliver all the essentials needed for videoconferencing.

“Every iteration of TEKVOX videoconferencing systems is more integrated and easier to install and use. By combining three incredible technologies in one, the Wunderbar is another step in that direction,” says TEKVOX CEO Jim Reinhart. “Prior to the Wunderbar you’d need a 4K camera, a separate touchscreen controller, and an array microphone mounted on the ceiling or a table – components that cost much more than the Wunderbar and require surplus cabling. The Wunderbar is easily mounted on a wall or table, and connected to a videoconferencing PC via a single USB 3.0 cable.”

The Wunderbar’s versatile 4K camera dynamically tracks speakers to keep them in frame. It features an ultra-wide field of view for capturing full-room video, and 5x digital zoom for crisp, reliable video. The sophisticated beamforming microphone and full-frequency speakers deliver high-end audio for superior clarity during videoconferences.

A single USB 3.0 connection offers convenience and ease of installation. The versatile Wunderbar also includes multiple mounting options and joint HDMI/USB 3.0 outputs for other use cases.

The Wunderbar is shipped fully functional, pre-programmed, and rigorously tested. It has an MSRP of $1,325, and is now shipping.

“The Wunderbar provides a videoconferencing solution with unmatched quality, convenience, and sophistication for an incredibly cost-effective price,” Reinhart concluded.
